Help Conserve Coral Reefs

Thankfully, whoever you are, wherever you are, you can play a powerful part in conserving and restoring the ocean’s natural splendor. Read on for all the ways you can get involved.

What is the Dine Hope Grows™ program and why is the DINE® brand supporting this?

The world’s coral reefs are at breaking point. If we do nothing, we could lose this vital ecosystem forever. Scientists estimate that without intervention, up to 90% of the world’s coral reefs could become functionally degraded by 2050, impacting nearly a billion people who directly depend on them.

But, there’s hope. We’ve begun to work on one the world’s largest coral reef conservation and restoration program to preserve and restore the beauty in our oceans and ensure our future has fish. We are on a mission to restore more than 185,000 square meters of coral reefs around the world by 2029.

The Dine Hope Grows™ program aims to help protect these vital coral reefs by planting steel structures called 'Reef stars', which provide a stable base for coral fragments to rapidly regrow. The Dine Hope Grows™ program has 30 restoration sites in 10 countries, across five continents, including the Great Barrier Reef, the Maldives, Mexico and Kenya.

By regenerating our reefs today, we can help to ensure their long-term sustainability. This is vital for the nearly one billion people globally who rely on reefs for food, income, and coastal protection. We believe it's simple: We have a responsibility to make our planet a better place. As a business, we believe it's our duty to limit our environmental footprint, protect the world's ecosystems, and improve the lives of people across the planet.
