Siamese cats are one of the most misunderstood breeds. While many people find them slightly aloof or arrogant, they are in fact a very affectionate breed and need little encouragement to jump into a lap to spend some quality time with their human companions.
Originating in Asia, this fascinating breed first reached the Western world in 1884 and quickly became popular due to its unique appearance and deep blue eyes.
However, today's Siamese cat is quite different to the Siamese cats of years ago with a longer body and head, a slender build and large ears. Although the Siamese with the cream coat and dark brown ears, face and tail is most common, the coat can in fact range in colour from white to dark brown.
Like most breeds, the Siamese is both curious about its surrounds and loves to play making it an adorable (and exotic) playmate for people of all ages.
